Summary
Proposes a model for social expressions of antisemitism in present-day German society, based on critical theory as modified by Klaus Holz's theory of national antisemitism. States that "primary" antisemitism of the 19th-century, or the Nazi type, has almost ceased to exist: German antisemitism today is "secondary" (e.g. the demand to "draw a line" under memory of the Holocaust) or anti-Zionist (e.g. "Israelis treat the Palestinians just as the Nazis treated the Jews"). Hypothesizes that the former would be more common in older people, and the latter in younger groups, but five group interviews carried out by the author fail to support this hypothesis. Two instances do support his prediction that an individual comment which is contrary to the views of the group (breaking the taboo on "primary" antisemitism) will arouse indignation and put a stop to the discussion.
