Summary
The catalogue of an exhibition which opened in January 2008 in the Berlin railway station at Potsdamer Platz, on the deportation of Jews and Gypsies by the Deutsche Reichsbahn (the German State Railway) under Nazi rule. The texts accompanying the photographs and documents deal, inter alia, with collaboration between the Railway and the SS and Police, the collaboration between high officials of the security offices and the Ministry of Transportation, the schedules of the deportations, and testimonies of survivors and of railway workers (focusing on several specific German cities). In the introduction, states that organizing the deportation of millons of persons throughout German-occupied Europe required the participation of thousands of functionaries and workers, and that without their willing and conscious collaboration the deportations would have been impossible.
