  • Codex Humboldt Fragmento 1 (Ms. amer. 2) is one of 16 fragments of indigenous pictorial documents from the collection of Antonio León y Gama acquired at public auction by Baron Alexander von Humboldt during his visit to New Spain (1803-1804) and currently housed in the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin; the Códice Azoyú 2 reverso was found in the Tlapanec town of Azoyú located in the Costa Chica of Guerrero and currently housed in the Biblioteca Nacional de Antropología e Historia (Mexico); both codices belong to a larger document (about 1/3 still missing) consisting of at least 52 painted folios measuring up to 15.5 meters in length.
