Summary
Recent video installations by Ríos (b. Catamarca, Argentina, 1943) deal with the traditions and folklore of Latin American peoples: soccer, with Pelé and Maradonna; games with wooden tops played in Mexico. At the same time, these work entail powerful metaphors about violence and racism, marginality and cultural identity, struggles for political and social power, and the dangers of the contemporary world.
