- Summary
- This catalogue of the 2006 Premio MAMBA - Fundación Telefónica exhibition is the most recent in an important and ongoing series devoted to the relationship of art to new technologies. The prizes are awarded annually to some of the most important young artists in Argentina, and the exhibition is held in one of the country's premier and most cutting-edge contemporary art venues. Jury for this 5th edition included: Laura Buccellato, director of the Museo de Arte Moderno of Buenos Aires (MAMBA); Fernando Farina, representing Fundación Telefónica; Rodrigo Alonso; David Oubia; Margarita Paksa; Gustavo Romano and Jorge Haro, in representation of LIMbO. The Grand Prize for New Technologies was won by Grupo Proyecto Biopus; (Emiliano Causa, Tarcisio Pirotta and Matías Romero Costas, with the collaboration of engineer Diego Rusjan) for their work "Sobre la Falta", a robotic controlled installation (robots remotely controlled through an optic system of position, movement and forms recognition). The catalogue includes several essays by critics and curators, color photographs and descriptions of each of the exhibited works, a CD ROM with experimental video, and English translations of all texts.
