- Summary
- Examines the implementation of Nazi anti-Jewish policy in the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (the German railway) between 1933-39. Describes the gradual process of discrimination and exclusion of Jews from the staff, the anti-Jewish policies against passengers, the boycotts of Jewish suppliers, and the cooperation of the railway with the police and the SS. States that the collaboration of the German Railway with the Nazi Jewish policy was total and ubiquitous. Hitler's stance toward the Jews received wide acceptance among the railway workers and officials. Most of the executives, led by the chief Julius Dorpmüller, as well as many lower functionaries, carried out and managed the Nazi policy against Jewish colleagues and the Jewish public concretely, each in their specific fields and in their daily work. Includes an extensive bibliography (pp. 408-432) and short biographies of personnel involved in the cooperation of the Reichsbahn with the government ministries (pp. 433-441).
