Summary
The present monographic study is a complete revision on the artistic trajectory of artist and muralist Jesús Gallardo Carrillo (b. León, Guanajuato 1931), who despite the "Post Revolutionary realism" and "Rupture" art movements favored by many 20th century Mexican artists and period art critics, found inspirational identity elements in the local landscape along with a generation of artists that included Luis Nishisawa, Nicolás Moreno, Feliciano Peña, Héctor Cruz, Antonio Ramírez amongst others. The study has been divided in 4 main sections that revise the historical context of the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in the first half of the 20th century, the Mexican landscape painting, the life and formation of the artist and finally his artwork.
