The diary and correspondence of Franklin Wegenast, a third-generation German Canadian born in Waterloo, Ontario in 1876. A lawyer by profession, Wegenast embarked upon an extended trip of Europe in the spring of 1938, keeping a diary about the people he encountered, the conditions they were living under, and their views on what was happening in Europe.
