Summary
In 1943 the American Jewish writer Meyer Levin (1905-1981) went to Europe to report on the war, on the fate of Europe's Jews, and on the Jewish and non-Jewish soldiers of the American army. In April 1945 he and the French Jewish photographer Eric Schwab were in a jeep travelling through Germany with the American forces. This book contains Levin's account of what they saw, Schwab's photographs, and photographs taken by Meyer's son, Mikael, of the same sites in 1995 on a trip he made following in his father's footsteps. These include Ohrdruf and Buchenwald, Dachau, Frankfurt, Köln, and Leipzig.
