- Summary
- Memoirs of a Jew born in Sosnowiec, Poland, in 1939. Pp. 1-87 describe her experiences in the Holocaust. Her father enlisted in the Polish army and then became a soldier in the Soviet army. After the German occupation her mother was imprisoned and later sent to Auschwitz. In 1943 Goldrei and her grandmother were interned in the Środula ghetto; she was soon rescued by her mother's former nanny, but her grandmother was killed. Goldrei was hidden on a Polish farm with family friends until the end of the war. Her parents eventually returned, but then separated. She emigrated with her mother to Israel, and later with her husband to Australia.
