- Summary
- In 1977, photojournalist Susan Meiselas traveled to Nicaragua to photograph the civil war between General Anastasio Somoza García's dictatorship and the Sandinista opposition. Her book, "Nicaragua: June 1978-July 1979" resulted from her two years there. Mieselas returns to Nicaragua a decade later to track down the people--guerrillas, Sandinistas, and bystanders--pictured in her original photographs. The people discuss the revolution and how their lives have changed since then. Once photographed wielding contact bombs and marching in the streets, these incredible Nicaraguans now live much as they did before the revolutionary days. The film is also an inquiry into the relationship between the media and the recording of history.
