- Summary
- Wim Wauman is a highly thoughtful artist who communicates skilfully through various forms of creative visual play. Games of cognitive and optical perception abound in his works. Although they are often full of joyful lightness, they also carry cerebral weight. Each picture contains the potential to hook the receptive viewer into a state of engaged concentration and increasing fascination. Spending time with Wauman's work, I am reminded of the pleasurable feeling that follows when one suddenly realises that hours have passed without notice when absorbed in a game of cards or chess. His images are like carefully assembled puzzles devised to delight adults and waken their inner child... Exhibition: Roberto Polo Gallery, Brussels, Belgium (10.09-08.11.2015).
