- Summary
- Selma Gürbüz is one of Turkey's best-known and most inspired contemporary artists. She draws on personal experiences to create visual elegies in which wonder and magic emerge from seeming chaos. Human and animal characters inhabit her fairytale settings, in images that reference shadow theatre, the art of silhouettes, and animation, as well as Ottoman, Japanese, and European art history.
