Summary
In 2007 the Department of Visual Arts and History of Music at the University of Padua and the Committee for the publication of sources related to texts and monuments of the Venetian musical culture initiated an innovative research project in several phases, aimed at cataloguing the liturgical music sources produced in the Veneto area between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the study of the related texts, intonations and illustrations, the transcription and execution of musical compositions. The survey, initially devoted to the choir books in major historical libraries of Padua (Anthonys, Chapter House, University, Seminary), was progressively extended to the codices stored in Venice (Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, the Correr Museum Library, Library of San Francesco vineyard), Verona (Chapter Library), Treviso (Chapter Library), Bergamo (Public Library "Angelo Mai"), Chioggia (diocesan Archive) and Monselice (Municipal Library). Programs, objectives and results were presented and discussed through meetings of study, critical essays, exhibitions and concerts, in collaboration with the Region of Veneto and the Ugo and Olga Levi Foundation of Venice (2010).
