The chapters have been rewritten for lay readers interested in the Casas Grandes site and area. From the introduction: "Each section of this book summarizes recent research that expands our understanding and appreciation of Paquimé, its region, and its role in the prehistory of the SW/NW. A more detailed technical volume, Ancient Paquimé and the Casas Grandes World, is for those who want to read further. These two publications follow in the path-breaking organization of the eight-volume JCGE report, Casas Grandes: A Fallen Trading Center of the Gran Chichimeca. Like the first three volumes of the JCGE report, this book is an easily accessible summary.
