- This catalogue reveals oil paintings from 17 collections housed across Biggar, Clydebank, Coatbridge, Dumbarton, East Kilbride, Giffnock, Greenock, Hamilton, Kilsyth, Milngavie, New Lanark and Paisley. The largest is Renfrewshire Council?s Paisley Museum and Art Galleries, which houses one of the largest art collections in Scotland. The museum holds the Renfrewshire Council and the Paisley Art Institute collections. The paintings collections consist of nearly 800 works, with an emphasis on late nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century Scottish artists. Also catalogued in this volume are the substantial council holdings of East Dunbartonshire Council, McLean Museum and Art Gallery ? Inverclyde Council and North Lanarkshire Council Museums and Heritage Service. Smaller collections include National Museums Scotland, National Museum of Rural Life, the Biggar Museum Trust and Historic Scotland, Dumbarton Castle.
