Summary

In de laatste decennia van de 20ste eeuw heeft zich in het tegenwoordige Tsjechië en Slowakije een geheel eigen richting binnen de internationale glaskunst ontwikkeld die0gebruik maakt van optisch glas, een glassoort waarbij de effecten van licht optimaal worden uitgebuit. Het spelen met het licht in glas is ook een belangrijk aspect in het werk van Hans van Bentem (1965), een kunstenaar die als geen ander de grenzen van de hedendaagse kunst en vormgeving weet op te rekken. In een aantal de verbeelding aansprekende installaties gaat van Bentem de dialoog aan met het werk van de belangrijkste optische glaskunstenaars uit Tsjechië en Slowakije.
