- Summary
- When the Alaska Highway opened to the public in 1948, lodges, cafes and gas stations sprang up along the new route from Dawson Creek through northern British Columbia and the Yukon to Alaska. Today, the demand for these services has diminished. Two Yukoners visited operating and abandoned lodges to explore the highway culture before it disappears completely.
