  • Dr. Leslie (Les) Shepherd was involved in the space field for 75 years, after joining the British Interplanetary Society (BIS) in 1935. John Becklake interviewed Shepherd, 92 years of age, in June 2010 at his home in Dorset, England, and he shared his memories ofthe early days of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), of which he was the last of the Founding Members. Les Shepherd died on 18 February 2012. See Chapter 1 in the book for a summary. Thanks are due Alan Marlow for recording the interview.--DVD insert.
