Master Area Reference Files (MARFs) link geographic areas with their respective numeric codes. This data collection is a school district equivalency file created for the 1980 Census of Population and Housing. The data contain geographic items from Summary Tape Files 1A and 3A as well as total population and housing unit counts. In addition to providing the standard MARF geographic data, the collection associates school district identification numbers with the lowest available levels of census geography. Flags are provided where a geographic area is split between districts. The data are contained in 51 hierarchical files, one for each state and for the District of Columbia.
