Summary
This research looks for an approach some to specific quarrels related to the critical and the theory of the contemporary architecture from a main point: the inquiry on the transformation of place. Constituting a revision about the questions of the place, the developed content begins with the analysis of the workmanship of the Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza Vieira to advance on the possible relations between architecture and context. Two workmanships of the architect are studied in detailed way: the Church of Saint Maria, in Portugal, and the Iberé Camargo Museum, in Brazil. From these studies diverse aspects interrelated to the quarrels of the place are examined, thus constructing parameters for a brought up to date reflection of the subject. Extending the research, a design of dutch office OMA will also be analyzed, whose main partner is the architect Rem Koolhaas. The selected workmanship - the House of the Music, located in Portugal - allows to investigate a method of project and analysis of the city that establishes another look at the contemporary spaces of the cities , who consequently configures a distinct possibility of agreement of the relation between architecture and context. Soon, the research generates a counterpoint when analyzing two architects with very different design process, but that come close for the fact that both face the same problem - the complex phenomena of the contemporary city.
