Summary

Based on the research that led to this work, the author used the magazine A Maçã - a leading publication founded in the frenzied 1920's, which addressed issues such as the imposition of modernity on the colonial past, art, culture and modernism in Rio de Janeiro, keeping her focus on the female figure. The spicy illustrated pages of this magazine have proved to be essential also to outline new ways and interpretations for the profession of modern designer.
