- Summary
- This book narrates the saga of a Jewish family the Ratisbonne from Fürth inn Bavaria. They came to live in Strasbourg before the French Revolution: Several members of this family were known as social and progressive rise by becoming traders in sheets, bankers and lawyers. Auguste, Louis and Achille Ratisbonne, were very active in the life of the city performing charitable works, and became prominent in the Jewish community in Strasbourg. Other members of this family, Theodore and Alphones Ratisbonne, converted to Catholicism and founded the Religious Congregation of Our Lady of Sion devoting most of their time to training and developing foundations in several countries. This cross between the two religions opens fertile perspectives at the beginning of 21st century.
