Summary
Oscar A. Masotta is a crucial figure in the transformation of the Argentine cultural field between 1950 and 1970. Actively linked to the experimental artists of the Instituto Di Tella, he proposed a series of key notions such as dematerialization, discontinuity and atmosphere to understand radical mutations of art. The first edition of this book, twelve years ago, intended as a call to attention before a clear oblivion: Masotta texts on art were unattainable and barely read. Although he was highly regarded in the Argentine intellectual field as a literary critic and especially as introducer of Lacan in psychoanalysis in Latin America and Spain, his multiple roles and intervention territories remained fragmented and compartmentalized, far from from composing an articulate intellectual itinerary. This volume reedits the almost lost texts written by Masotta on artistic issues in the 1960's, included in his books "El pop art" (1965), "Happenings" (1967) and "Conciencia y estructura" (1968), as well as other dispersed writings.
