- Summary
- The exhibition presents for the first time in Peru a wide selection of works by the three great artists of Mexican modernism: José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros. The group comes from the Carrillo Gil Art Museum in Mexico City, one of the largest collections of its kind in the world. The works bring us closer not only to the mural projects of these artists but, above all, to their important graphic and easel work, which was pioneered by physician Alvar Carrillo Gil (Yucatán, 1898 - Mexico City, 1974). Some documentary materials are also exhibited that allow us to understand the imprint of muralism in the Peruvian plastic art of the first half of the 20th century. The edition, by Natalia Majluf and Carlos E. Palacios, includes an essay by the latter; a portfolio of images of the works on display, as well as a chronology and a documentary annex prepared by Ricardo Kusunoki.
