- Summary
- The history of several commodities rationing programs and different types of rationing programs under the auspices of the OPA-- such as the coffee program as an example of unit rationing, a single food for a single stamp, as sugar had been rationed; and processed foods and fats and oils as exemplified by the two-point rationing system, a number of separate commodities rationed with a single 'currency'. The milk program, never instituted, is an example of how commodities could be rationed on a area basis, rather than nationwide; while the slaughter control program analyzes the methods used at production level to reinforce distribution controls for rationing and price control.
