Summary
After a long stay in the United States, carioca photographer Claudio Edinger (Brazil 1952), when returning to Brazil in 1996, began giving workshops at festivals and classes in cultural centers, and began to question the history of photography since its inception, either as art, in its direct relationship with painters and the environment or when it is used as the base of an artwork. In 2009 he started a reference project that ended in this major publication. The book is chronologically organized and illustrated with more than 570 reproductions of the works of close to 350 photographers, painters and image philosophers. "This book is a personal annotations book. I tried to create synthesis of each artist, gathering all the collected material, not only to organize my research, but to help those who are going the same way. Here I aspire to build a map, an index for the reader to choose their pattern and to go deeper, in their favorite direction. and although every photographer and artist present here have all been exclusively selected according to my personal preferences, from my particular point of view of a possible history, I have used a selection criterion on the originality of each work."
