- This book is about the Arabic-based Somali writing system devised by Sh. Maxamed Cabdi Makaahiil. The book includes a description of the system and a selection of writings, such as proverbs and letters. In addition, the author of the book also interviewed relatives of Sh. Maxamed, giving greater context to the writing system and its development. It also features a previously unpublished Arabic qasiido by Sh. Maxamd. [ASC Leiden abstract].
