- Summary
- On the day Pearl Harbor was bombed, Issei artist Kamekichi Tokita started a diary that he vowed to keep until the war ended. In it he recorded the events, fears, rumors, restrictions, and his own emotional turmoil leading up to and during his detention at Minidoka. This account, together with his paintings, illustrates an immigrant's life in Seattle in the 1920s and '30s and the uncertainties and anxieties of Japanese-Americans during the World War II incarceration.
