- Summary
- Ernst Silge (1866-1940) immigrated from Germany in 1882. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1883 and traveled the world until 1887 when he came down with tuberculosis; he was discharged in 1888. He kept diaries during his naval years and while in Colorado until about 1894 or so. He went back to Germany and married Marie Fredericka Knorr in 1895 and raised a family.
