Summary

Jan Kosmowski's letters to Prince Aleksander refer to the turbulent period in the history of Poland, after the death of King Jan III. Their author, who had been associated with the Sobieski family from earlier years, and especially with Prince Aleksander, found himself in close proximity to the widow queen Maria Kazimiera d'Arquien Sobieska at that time. He witnessed all the vicissitudes that she experienced in her relations with the supporters and political opponents of the Sobieski House.
