  • Also designated as Tomus VI of the Epistolae Karolini aevi.
  • Part 1 of this collection of Hincmar's letters was compiled by Ernst Perels and published in 1939 under the title: Hincmari Archiepiscopi Remensis epistolarum pars prior. Perels continued to work on the continuation of his edition until his internment in Flossenburg concentration camp, where he died in May, 1945. His colleague Nelly Ertl performed additional editorial work between 1938 and 1941. Rudolf Schieffer completed work on this volume ("Teil 2")--See Vorbemerkung, pages vi. (In his Vorbemerkung, Schieffer refers to his hopes to complete the edition with a third volume, but shortly after the publication of this volume he passed away at age 71.)
