- Summary
- A study of the phenomenon of "realism" in the painting of the XIX century. The similarity and difference in the understanding of realism by Russian artists-itinerants and Gustave Courbet is studied on the example of the subjects of paintings, their style and composition. The novelty of the study lies in the consideration of the realism of Gustave Courbet in comparison with the realistic trends in the work of Russian Wanderers, as a result of which common themes, genres, stylistic features and compositional features of painting were found.
