- The letters, presented in full for the first time, that Theodor Storm wrote between 1852/53 and 1864 from exile in Prussia, from Potsdam and Heiligenstadt, to his parents who remained in the family home in Husum, are among the most beautiful narratives that we know of the poet. Together with the never-before-published letters from Constanze Storm, which often accompanied her husband's letters, and the equally unknown counter-letters from Lucie Storm - unfortunately, except for a few of Johann Casimir Storm's letters, they provide a deep insight into an important decade of the poet's life. During these years, during which he endured the most difficult and physically demanding time in the Prussian judicial service, he nevertheless achieved his literary breakthrough and became a nationally recognized author. Theodor Storm's letters cover the entire spectrum of his professional, family and artistic existence: you read something deeply private, but also something highly political. The volume brings together a multi-voiced epistolary conversation. The women's letters, Constanze Storm and Lucie Storm, were intended as supplements to the messages from their husbands. However, they often gain complete independence and are of particular cultural and historical value because they allow a glimpse into the everyday culture of the small-town middle class in the middle of the 19th century.
