  • The papers of the Duke of Somerset treat principally of the history of Devonshire. One of the most important documents in the collection of the Marquis of Ailesbury is a catalogue, dated 1682, of the "sale of Sir Peter Lely's collection of paintings, giving the painter's name, name of picture, size of picture, purchasers' names, and price paid". The manuscripts of Sir T.H.G. Puleston, relating mainly to Ireland and north Wales, include a small group of letters from Anna Seward to Mrs. Parry Price which are not printed in Constable's edition of her letters.
