Summary

The six hundred sixth meeting of the American Mathematical Society was held on November 21-22, 1963 at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California. This volume contains twenty-two of the papers which were presented at the Symposium. The purpose of the Symposium was to bring together experts in the allied branches of the broad field of number theory. By fostering open discussions the Symposium proved to be a vigorous and highly successful means of disseminating information about the latest advances in mathematical knowledge.
