- "The employment of operations research or analysis, and the subsequent optimization, has developed to such an extent that engineering and business students are well advised to include these subjects in their education. At the present time it is rather difficult to carry out such study in a reasonably short time, particularly in the field of optimization. One of the reasons for this difficulty is the scarcity of texts with a sufficiently broad coverage, and the corresponding preponderance of specialized texts.
