Summary
This study of Navajo and Pueblo silverwork was carried out by John Adair over a period of years but the primary field work began in 1938. Adair's work stresses the sociological significance of this art form in Navajo and Pueblo culture. Includes information about the development of the craft and its technical and artistic aspects. The appendices include lists of Navajo and Zuñi silversmiths in 1940 and Hopi silversmiths in 1938.
