Summary
Comparison of the origins, membership, structure and evolution of three regional development banks, namely the African development bank, the Asian development bank and the IDB in America - argues that, although the institutions concerned evolved differently, none of them has been significantly successful in shifting the balance of control of economic aid funds in favour of the developing countries whose needs they are intended to serve, and includes a set of recommendations for the strengthening of regional banks.
