- Summary
- Wetherill was the first man to uncover many of the Southwest's most spectacular archaeological sites in the remote region of the Four Corners area of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. He also developed systematic methods of excavating, photographing, cataloging, and recording prehistoric materials. Unfortunately, Wetherill was vilified by professional scientists and eventually murdered by a Navajo. This controversy has until now obscured his achievements in the field of archeological site preservation of ancient man in the Southwest.
