Summary
Contains correspondence between a Jewish woman, Rose Mittler-Schidorsky, who was born in 1881 in Eydtkuhnen (eastern Prussia), and lived from 1911 in Vienna, and her daughter Eva who lived in Kilchberg, Switzerland, during the period between the Anschluss in February 1938 until the outbreak of World War II in September 1939. Due to gradual discrimination and exclusion of the Jews in Austria, Mittler-Schidorsky began to prepare for emigration. Thanks to the intervention of her son-in-law, who lived in Switzerland from 1922 and whose family had converted to Christianity, she finally obtained a Swiss residence permit in June 1939. Of the seven brothers and sisters who had lived in Germany, only Rose and her youngest brother, who emigrated in 1934 to Palestine, survived.
