- Summary
- The journal kept of Prince Alexander Liholiho between 1849 and 1850, as he accompanied Dr. Gerrit P. Judd, minister of finance for Hawaii. Dr. Judd had been appointed as special commissioner to France, Great Britain, and the United States "... to seek an indemnity of $100,000 from France, and treaties and guaranties of independence from all three powers." Prince Alexander was a nephew and heir to Kamehameha III, King of the Hawaiian Islands, and Prince Alexander served as Kamehameha IV, King of the Hawaiian Islands between 1854 and 1853.
