Summary
Completely rewritten by a new team for the second edition, this manual presents and evaluates methods for the measurement and calculation of the productivity of fresh-water invertebrates. In addition, it reviews methods for determining the components of productivity, including ingestion, assimilation and respiration, and examines the sampling of zooplankton, benthos, and emergent insects. The emphasis is placed on hypothesis testing, suiting techniques to questions examined, statistical treatment of data, recent technical advances, and an understanding of the assumptions underlying various mathematical and mechanical techniques.
