- Summary
- Challenging conventional wisdom about German dominance in the new Europe, this study presents a new approach to the question of power and influence after the Cold War. Ann L. PhillipsAIs analysis of German relations with East-Central Europe convincingly demonstrates how the interplay of domestic and international politics has rewritten the terms of power and influence in the region. The author develops two new cases-the politics of reconciliation and the activities of German party-affiliated foundations-to explore the international-domestic connection and contribute new empirical evidence to the debate over German hegemony.
