- Description
- 587 pages; 22 cm
- Summary
- Using psychoanalytic and Marxist theories, analyzes antisemitism in drama, including medieval German passion plays, Elizabethan drama (especially "The Merchant of Venice"), late 18th-19th-century German farce, Wagner's operas and essays, German pre-Nazi and Nazi films, and postwar German drama, as well as Jewish treatment of the theme. Shows that in these works Jews stand for money (usury), and money for blood - the blood of the sacrificed Christ.
