- Summary
- Based on IFPRI surveys of rice producers, traders, millers and state-owned enterprises carried out in 1995 and 1996 and on household survey data. Examines patterns of rice production and marketing in Viet Nam and investigates how liberalizing both internal and external rice markets has affected food security and poverty. Assesses the effects on income and poverty of further liberalization of rice markets, focusing on changes in rice prices. Discusses policy implications and draws lessons for other countries.
