Summary
"The purpose of this book is twofold. It is intended, in the first place, to focus attention on the most vital theme for man, that of his soul -- its nature and immortality....This book is intended also to acquaint the English speaking world better with modern Greek philosophic thought, about which extremely little is known outside of Greece...As inheritors of both the ancient Greeks and the Byzantines, modern Greek philosophers have stressed the reality and dignity of the human soul, and have sought to prove its incorporeal nature and immortality. Further, they have subjected to criticism opposed conceptions, such as those of materialism, naturalism, and positivism."--from the Preface and Introduction.
