- Summary
- Based on an October 1999 NATO workshop, this volume consists of 18 papers and nine country reports on mathematical models used to estimate the concentrations of different substances in the environment. The contributors outline the characteristics of predicted environmental concentration (PEC) models, overview application of the models, compare estimated concentrations with the measured concentrations in the field, and examine the credibility of modeling. Topics include use of the alarm model in accidental pollution of the Danube River, modeling of agricultural operator exposure, the MACRO preferential flow model for simulating pesticide leaching and movement to drains, and risk assessment and management of industrial chemicals in Poland.
