Summary
  • "The No Child Left Behind legislation has led to another round of emphasis on public schools and their need for renewal. It followed an earlier renewal program between 1969 and 1974 called the Model Schools Project (MSP), initiated by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and representing the culmination of that era's seminal thinking on school renewal. After the MSP formally ended, a follow-up consortium of schools and districts, the Learning Environments Consortium International, continued to provide leadership for school renewal under Dr. William D. Georgiades, a former professor of education at the University of Southern California and MSP director."
  • "Changing the School Learning Environment: Where Do We Stand after Decades of Reform? examines the key MSP concepts and what has happened to them during the past thirty-plus years, answering the question of whether the MSP has survived as initially conceived, evolved into something meaningful for contemporary schools, or failed, as have so many other innovations. It also surveys educational school-renewal practices stemming from the MSP and discusses how those practices are being used today."--Jacket.
