Summary
EIFAC organized in Silkeborg, Denmark, from 26 to 28 May, a workshop on fish-farm effluents under the convenorship of Dr. John S. Alabaster. The papers which were considered at the Workshop are presented in edited form together with the results of a survey of fish-farm effluents in EIFAC countries under the following chapters: General surveys, Studies of effluent quality; Environmental effects of effluents; Waste treatment; Effluent control. A summary report of the discussions is given and a recommendation is made to EIFAC according to which the Commission should establish the Working Party on fish-farm effluents which had been proposed at its 11th session.
